October 19th

Beautiful, slightly cool autumn day of clear blue skies and rustling breezes. All summer we are surrounded by green woods, but now all there is, is gold in every direction.

We hold excess tension in our thinking and body use and in that holding we try to maintain balance. But we are trying to keep something we do not experience, and in that there is struggle, effort and resistance.

We lean forward or backward, with a lot of pressure in our bodies and legs and feet. We hold that, thinking we are keeping our balance, and we do the same psychologically. But we cannot keep balance or poise, turn it into something rigid, for then it is a position, not balance. When there is awareness of the effort to control our lives, then balance is there, fluid and easy, and there is a sense of freedom and wholeness.

Why do we escape from observing ourselves, from seeing the tension we hold throughout our lives? Why do we try to be free through what we know already, rather than giving up what we think we know, which gives us the freedom we seek.
