The tendency in all of us, which we carry over into everything we do, including learning about living consciously, is to take something simple, see how complex we can make it, and then out of the created complexity, we try to distill simplicity. That is all a lot of work, a lot of wasted energy.

Change is the result of being aware of our tendencies in the ways we habitually use ourselves. It is not a goal.

It is important for us to start with the fact that we hold excess tension in everything we do, that we are "end-gaining" our way through life and that deeply we are in denial because we judge ourselves as wrong and therefore try to be right. Not facing our negative thinking, interferes with our ability to move freely in our bodies. We do not see that everything we do, except in moments of being attentive, comes from past decisions.

The reason it takes so long to learn anything new about who we are, is because we are in denial. Denial is our way of life and we do not realize it is as constant as 'end-gaining', as tightening and constricting our bodies, as constant as our shallow breathing. Accepting these facts and watching to find them is a shortcut to free and graceful movements that awareness brings.
